Psychic Reader

Psychics have been consulted since nearly the very outset of human existence. The word psychic is derived from the Greek psychikos, which means “of the soul, mental.” Psychics claim to be able perceive paranormal information hidden from the traditional five senses. A psychic claims to be able to do receive this information by utilizing extrasensory perception. Extrasensory perception is often referred to as a sixth sense. The word psychic is believed to have first been used in its modern meaning by the French astronomer and spiritualist Camille Flammarion, and was introduced to the English language during the 1870s by Edward William Cox. One of the more widespread categories of psychics are those who consider themselves psychic readers.

A Psychic reader is a person who claims to be able to foretell the future of an individual who comes to them. A psychic reader may utilize one of five general methods to attempt to gain insight into the futures of the person seeking out aid from a psychic reader. The first method of psychic readings is known as a distant reading. In a distant psychic reading there is no face to face contact between the psychic reader and client. This method eliminates the possibility that the psychic reader can pick up on visual reactions. The second method is referred to as psychometric readings. In this method a psychic attempt to learn information, often about a missing person, through an object of importance to the person being sough. Psychic readers employing this method claim that items in prolonged contact with a subject absorb a portion of their energy, which allows the psychic to locate the subject. The third is known as an aura reading, in which a psychic examines a person’s aura, which is said to be a field of energy which reveals personal characteristics. The next method often employed is cartomancy, in which a deck of cards are used, and depending on which cards are drawn and the order of cards, different meaning and interpretations can be made.

Cartomancy typically employs tarot cards, although it can also make use of a deck of playing cards. The final two methods which psychic readers use are rune readings and lithomancy readings. In these fields runes, an ancient alphabet believed to be invested with specific meaning, or any physical items are thrown on the ground or a mat. The orientation of the items after they land are believed to impart different meanings to the psychic reader. Although palm reading and astronomy are sometimes offered as psychic services these do not require any psychic ability to be conducted.

Psychic readers can function in a variety of locations. Some prefer to work in individual sessions. Others are more readily found doing readings for groups. Some psychic readings can be done at great depth, although some, such as those done at many fairs, are by necessity very brief. These brief readings are sometimes offered as free psychic readings to pique interesting in to paid psychic readings Some psychics are able to provide a variety of methods in their readings, while some to be proficient in one category.
